Upper West Side Residence

A complete redesign of the layout was in order when the apartment next door was acquired, nearly doubling the unit’s square footage. The two entrance doors provided a unique opportunity to have both a formal entry foyer and a separate mud room entrance for bicycles and other sports equipment.

The design is centered around an open concept entertaining area which includes a chef’s kitchen, living and dining areas, breakfast niche, and a library. Separated from the guest suite, the children have their own wing, which includes a study and a playroom. The master suite includes a wet room, complete with a deep soaking tub, and a separate office.

Architectural elements, such as the new coffered ceiling, relate to the original details in these prewar apartments, but also work with the updated bright and playful palette. Interior design by Dayna Spitz.
