Emerald Bay Residence

The project consisted of the complete renovation of the existing house and site. The design goals were to open up the plan to better connect the entertaining spaces of the house with each other and the adjacent backyard and pool. The 3,230 sf project included new bedrooms and bathrooms, kitchen and entertaining spaces, as well new windows, exterior finishes, patios, pool and landscaping.

The challenge of the project was to upgrade and modernize the existing house and site while maximizing the potential embedded in the property. While limited to the existing height and footprint of the house, the design completely reconfigures the interior of small, disjointed rooms into a single, open entertaining space with a wide, horizontal window wall and new exterior patio. The vaulted ceiling of the main living space was expanded to maximize the available height under the existing roof structure. The main level of the house focuses inward – organizing around an interior courtyard that feels completely separate from the surrounding neighbors.
